Each Tradie Ladies Training Program is developed in partnership with the NSW Government and local industry stakeholders, with the goal to connect local women to trade-based employment opportunities. The programs are all regionally based and offer learners the opportunity to gain fundamental skills, be exposed to the construction industry, establish connections, and gain confidence in a supported and encouraging environment.
The Program
We’re currently seeking expressions of interest for ladies in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Valley, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, Lismore, Ballina and Byron Bay regions. These areas have been highlighted as regions with high growth potential in the construction sector, but with notable labour shortages.
The best parts of all programs are that most of the time, they are fully subsidised by the NSW Government and are completely fee-free.
Common program inclusions are:
- 4 x nationally accredited units of competency (which may then be used as credit transfers in certain apprenticeships) including a practical project.
- Current female apprentice/trades people guest speakers
- Ongoing mentorship with industry ambassadors
- Employability skills, goal setting, mental health first aid, and resilience training
- Work experience with local employers looking for new staff
